Victor Ostromoukhov is a Professor at Université Lyon 1 / CNRS. He was born in Ukraine. Graduated from Phys-Tech (MIPT, Moscow) in 1980, he began his academic career at the Globe Research Institute, where he spent several years as a researcher. He completed his PhD at EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), Switzerland, in 1994, and subsequently spent five years there as a Lecturer and Researcher. He has also held visiting positions at the University of Washington (1997), the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2016), Stanford University (2017), and spent a year as a Research Scientist at MIT (1999-2000). In 2000, he joined the University of Montreal, Canada, as an Associate Professor. Since 2009, he has been a Full Professor at Université Lyon 1, France, where he held a distinguished chair funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR), the French equivalent of the NSF. He regularly serves on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals and on the program committees of major computer graphics conferences, including SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, Eurographics, NPAR, EGSR, HPG, CGI, etc. His research interests include computer graphics, photorealistic and non-photorealistic rendering, Monte Carlo and quasi-Monte Carlo sampling, digital halftoning, color science, and the mathematical foundations of computer graphics.
