My main research thematics are centered on the application of the methods of artificial intelligence to the study of the dynamics of complex natural systems: I like to explore how data science (including machine learning and data mining), combinatorial optimisation or agent-based approaches, can help building better models of these systems. Moreover, stongly influenced by the view advocated by the emerging field of computational sustainability, I mainly focus on the systemic modeling and simulation of the complex interactions between environmental, economic and social factors within the context of transition to sustainability at various scales.
I also promote the view asserting that public researchers must be involved in the important problems of their time. In this aspect, I try to develop decision-making tools to support public decision makers and help them to answer to the challenges posed by the current transition our society is facing.
