Teaching

Context

My teaching takes place at the IUT Lyon 1, Department of Business Technology (Techniques de Commercialisation — TC), a highly selective programme with approximately 10,000 applications per year for 230 places.

As Head of the IT Section since joining in 2008, I coordinate all Computer Science modules in the first and second years of the BUT programme and the Année Spéciale (≈800 hours/year total), with a team of 5–10 instructors (ATER, ACE, and hourly staff).

Teaching is delivered entirely face-to-face in initial training (formation initiale), with the Année Spéciale also welcoming employees in professional transition (Projet de Transition Professionnelle).

Teaching Themes

Core Digital Competencies and Digital Accessibility

The large majority of my teaching develops core digital competencies, from standard office software (word processors, presentation tools, spreadsheets, email clients) to broader concepts (operating systems, computer networks, the Web).

Pedagogically, each module consists of hybrid sessions (lecture + lab): a short conceptual exposition followed by immediate hands-on application, culminating in a synthesis exercise.

Since 2023, I also teach a lecture on digital and web accessibility (one of my research topic) in the M2 Innovations technologiques santé et cognition programme (FST, Lyon 1).

Teaching Responsibilities

Head of IT Section (IUT TC)

Since 2008, I hold full responsibility for the IT Section at IUT TC, covering:

• Designing module syllabi in accordance with national programme frameworks (Programmes Pédagogiques Nationaux)
• Coordinating instructors across modules and scheduling
• Managing pedagogical platforms (Moodle, etc.): enrolments, resources, assessments
• Producing and updating course materials (≈35 lab guides + corrections, 10 lecture sets)
• Recruiting and onboarding instructors (ATER, ACE, hourly staff)
• Training colleagues on digital tools

First-Year Student Admissions (since 2017)

Since 2017, I manage first-year student recruitment for the TC programme (≈10,000 applications per year for 230 places).

Projet Voltaire (co-responsible, since 2023)

Co-responsible for the Projet Voltaire initiative — an online French spelling and expression training programme for second-year students (≈200). Responsibilities include account administration, initial/final assessment session management, technical support, and results reporting.

DUT → BUT Transformation

I was actively involved in the national transformation of the two-year DUT into the three-year BUT, contributing to the design of specialisations, SAé, and the competency portfolio.

Supervision and Mentoring

Each year I supervise approximately 23 student placements and 3 work-study (alternance) students across first, second, and third years.

NatBraille & Coobra Projects Co-Direction

I co-direct the NatBraille and Coobra projects with Alain Mille — an open-source collaborative web editor for scientific and technical documents with both print and Braille views, designed to promote inclusion of visually impaired people in education and in the workplace.
