Genac II
Automatic content generation tools for video game studios.

Genac II ran inside the Imaginove competitiveness cluster and brought the team together with two Lyon video game studios, WideScreen Games and Eden Games, around the automatic generation of graphical content.
The problem the studios brought was one of production volume. A game world has to be large and varied, and building it by hand does not scale with the size players expect. The project set out to give studios tools that produce that content automatically, and that remain usable by artists rather than only by programmers.
For the team this was an early opportunity to confront procedural methods with a production pipeline, and it opened the long collaboration with the games industry that later continued through Mango, Papaya and Ampli.
